Biography
How about 10 words?
Toronto. Dublin. London. Seoul. Motorcycles. Teaching. Journalism. Comics. Blogging. Montreal.

How did you start out in illustration?
Professional: In university I was the editorial cartoonist for three years at the student paper. Amateur: I was probably about three weeks old drawing with chocolate.

How do you define your style?
Korean flavoured cartoons.

What is your creative process?
I just let go and try to have fun. Whenever I try anything else, the results are crap.

What project has given you the most satisfaction?
Without hesitation, Ojingogo.

Where do you find inspiration?
Japanese and Korean illustrators on the web. French albums. Fichtre! and Drawn & Quarterly comic shops in Montreal. The Beguiling comic shop in Toronto; the manga section of the Bibliotheque Nationale.

Who are your favourites designers/artists/illustrators?
This year: Gipi, Mary Blair, Dave Cooper, Laura Park, Naoki Urasawa.

Can you tell us a little about your next project?
I’m starting a new webcomic: Bleech Comics ; An Ojingogo full-length Ojingogo book in 2008 and another Ojingogo book in 2009.

Do you exhibit?
Not really.

What books/magazines do you have on your table, today?
The New Yorker. The Art and Flair of Mary Blair. Nausicaa: of the Valley of the Wind, by Hayao Miyazake, and Bagel’s Lucky Hat by Dave Cooper.

What kind of music do you listen to?
Glenn Gould. Spoon.

Which job would you choose if you had to make the change?
Airline Pilot.
